The Strategic Land Group (SLG) has reached a key milestone in the promotion of its Kidsgrove site after the former Green Belt site was allocated for residential development within Newcastle-under-Lyme Borough Council's adopted Local Plan.

The allocation represents a significant step forward for the site and supports the council's long-term housing ambitions, helping to meet local housing need across the borough.

Located close to local amenities, schools and transport connections, the site could deliver up to 90 new homes. Early proposals for the scheme include green space and a children's play area, creating an attractive new neighbourhood that integrates with the existing community.

The allocation follows several years of work by SLG, demonstrating the site's suitability for development and its ability to contribute towards the area’s future housing needs.

Paul Smith, Managing Director at SLG, said: "Securing an allocation for our Kidsgrove site within the adopted Local Plan reflects the considerable work undertaken throughout the plan-making process.

"With the need for new homes continuing to grow, it is important that local authorities identify sustainable and deliverable sites capable of supporting future communities. This allocation provides a clear framework for bringing the site forward and we look forward to progressing proposals through the next stages of the planning process."

The adopted Local Plan provides certainty over the future of the site and establishes the principle of residential development, marking a major milestone in the delivery of up to 90 new homes in a sustainable and well-connected location.

SLG is now carrying out further technical work before bringing the site to market in the autumn.
