Following the recommendations of the Building Better, Building Beautiful Commission, the government recently introduced a new National Design Guide with the aim, according to the Secretary of State for Housing, Robert Jenrick MP of defining "what is expected of local authorities and developers to support the creation of beautiful places."
Yet design quality is not only highly subjective, it is often rooted in the specifics of the place where a development is to take place.
