The Strategic Land Group (SLG) has submitted a Permission in Principle application for up to five new homes in Goldsborough, North Yorkshire.
Just outside Knaresborough, the site sits within the sought-after ‘Golden Triangle’ of Harrogate, York and Leeds. A charming village with a primary school, playground and a popular local pub, Goldsborough offers an ideal location for new homes.
Led by our Managing Director, Paul Smith, our team will look to secure planning permission for the new scheme before finding a housebuilder to develop the site.
Following the government's announcement of increased housing targets, North Yorkshire Council doesn't currently have enough housing land available to meet its needs in the short-term - defined as the next five years. North Yorkshire Council intends to have a Local Plan in place by 2028, which must identify enough land to deliver 20,000 new homes.
Michael Shaw, Land and Planning Manager at SLG, said: “Goldsborough is an ideal location to deliver a small number of high-quality homes to help meet local housing needs. With the council currently unable to demonstrate a five-year housing land supply, small, well-located sites like this can make a valuable contribution while respecting the character of local communities. It’s positive to be able to draw on the Permission in Principle process to bring this site forward.”
Permission in Principle is a fairly new method of securing planning permission introduced by the government to simplify the planning process for sites of up to nine homes. It requires far less information, with the aim to simply establish that the principle of housing development is acceptable. Design details and layout are handled via a subsequent Technical Details approval.
Hourigan Planning and Prospect Archaeology advised on the application.
